One of my favorite things to do is dance, and fortunately for me it is also a great calorie burner! Dancing can burn up to 450 calories, give or take, according to CalorieCount. That is just the motivation I need to get moving, since calorie burn is never a bad thing for me. It’s also good for the heart as well as your mood. I know that I always feel a lot better after grooving to some tunes.

Check out Yahoo! Music for some hot tracks to work out to or to just enjoy at work or on your down time.

What are some ways you get your heart pumping?

pet allergiesNot exactly. While some breeds seem to, well, breed less allergy symptoms, people have the misperception that there are hypoallergenic types of dogs.

The source of pet allergies is, a lot of times, a protein in the saliva and urine of dogs and cats. The protein sticks to the dander from the pet’s skin. Some breeds, like the soft-coated wheaten terrier, are marketed as being hypoallergenic because they shed very little fur, but the fur is not the problem. That being said, the dander that sticks to their fur doesn’t get released into the air as much as it does with shedding dogs.

“He who has begun is half done. ”
~ Horace

Getting started on something is half the battle. Once we get started there is no stopping us. Some people have a hard time getting going on a project or working toward a goal. It’s easy to make a big deal about something that seems too hard to manage, but once we take the first step it’s easier than we thought!

How do you get going when your natural inclination is to procrastinate?

The fact is that the guy next to you may have lots of potential but may be doing nothing to get to his goals.

What do you do to get started toward your goals?

Would You Give Away Your Millions?

Posted on February 25, 2010 · Leave a Comment

Millionaire Karl Rabeder is giving away his millions after realizing that they made him unhappy. He is trading in his 3,455 square foot villa, a stone farmhouse in Provence, and more; he wants to be rid of everything and plans to live in a small wooden hut in the mountains or a simple apartment in Innsbruck.

I’m not sure how unhappy I would be with millions of dollars, but I can dream, right? Maybe I’m wrong and it would be miserable. Call me crazy, but I’d love to find out for myself.

If you had all the money in the world, do you think it would put a damper on things or do you think money is the answer to any problem? Are you an in-betweener like me?

Everyone loves chicken pot pie, right? Try out this recipe, including smashed potatoes, and let us know how it compares to the original.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pound(s) baby red potatoes, each cut in half
  • 1 tablespoon(s) vegetable oil
  • 4 medium (about 1 1/4 pounds) skinless, boneless chicken-breast halves
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon(s) ground black pepper
  • 1 1/2 cup(s) (about half 10-ounce bag) matchstick-thin carrots
  • 1 cup(s) chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup(s) heavy or whipping cream
  • 1/2 teaspoon(s) dried tarragon, crumbled
  • 1 cup(s) tiny frozen peas, thawed
  • 1 tablespoon(s) margarine or butter
  • Tarragon sprigs for garnish

Directions

  1. In 5-quart Dutch oven, place potatoes with water to cover; heat to boiling over high heat. Reduce heat to low; cover and simmer 12 minutes or until potatoes are fork-tender.
  2. While potatoes are cooking, in nonstick 12-inch skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat until hot. Add chicken and sprinkle with 1/4 teaspoon salt and 1/8 teaspoon pepper; cook 6 minutes. Turn chicken over. Reduce heat to medium; cover and cook 8 minutes longer or until juices run clear when thickest part of chicken is pierced with knife. Transfer chicken to plate; keep warm.
  3. To same skillet, add carrots, broth, cream, and dried tarragon; cover and cook over medium-high heat 5 minutes or until carrots are tender. Remove skillet from heat and stir in peas.
  4. Coarsely mash potatoes with margarine and remaining salt and pepper.
  5. Spoon potatoes onto platter; top with chicken and vegetable mixture. Garnish with tarragon.

You can create a one-of-a-kind space with little or no money, which in these times is helpful to say the least.

Canvas, which is on the cheaper side, can be found at art stores and you can decorate it with anything from paint, collages, and fabric. So, you don’t necessarily need to be Picasso to make art for your walls.

Using slipcovers can breathe new life into old furniture and make it match the rest of the decor. Another way to save money is to paint your furniture rather than buying new. Make sure the pieces are in good enough condition to use and you are good to go.

ralph waldo emerson“Finish every day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day; begin it well and serenely and with too high a spirit to be cumbered with your old nonsense. This day is all that is good and fair. It is too dear, with its hopes and invitations, to waste a moment on yesterdays.”

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

There is no use looking back at yesterday. All we have is today and the promise of tomorrow. So make the most of your todays and tomorrows and enjoy every moment!
